The Weeknd - "John Carpenter" (Preview)

Abel Tesfaye’s new Weeknd album will be the first set of songs he’s created specifically for that format — remember him in his mysterioso mixtape maestro guise, leading to his mixtape-compiling debut LP Trilogy — and he’s been fairly forthcoming by telling us it’s called Kiss Land. And now, back to the mysterioso vibes: Tesfaye tweeted a link (no text, of course) to a twenty-second snipped of a new song called “John Carpenter,” named most likely after the prolific horror/sci-fi/everything-else filmmaker behind everything from the Halloween series to Big Trouble In Little China, though it would be special if the track was named for the John Carpenter who was the first millionaire on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? The Youtube preview of the song, which repeats the lyric “this ain’t nothing I can relate to,” is set to mucked up footage of Abel swaying in front of a large and luminous control board, and I must tell you, the production value of the imagery is more Michael Myers than Regis Philbin. Probably important to clear that up. Watch/listen to twenty seconds of new The Weeknd xo below:

Kiss Land will be out this year. John Carpenter lives forever. Both of them.
