Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. first landed on our radar back in 2010. The Detroit rockers made our list of that year’s 40 Best New Bands on the strength of playful, harmony-rich indie-pop jams like “Simple Girl.” Since then, the duo of Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein cemented its reputation as a kinetic live act while touring in support of debut LP It’s A Corporate World. For KEEN and Stereogum’s Brave New Sounds, the band agreed to strip down their latest single, the haunting “Dark Water,” in an inspirational outdoor setting, allowing the ambiance of their rustic environs to enhance an acoustic performance. It was “the perfect blend of nature and song,” as Josh remarks in the video. Watch below.
