Perhaps congratulations are in order. For the first time in what feels like forever, a Flaming Lips video isn’t dominated by visions of naked women crawling through slug guts or whatever. The band’s new video for “Turning Violent,” an ominous churn from their new album The Terror, is primarily a band-performance video, one that captures the band’s members looking hard and intent as they take over an all-white soundstage and lights blast out at appropriate moments. It’s an intense, effective piece of work, and you can watch it below.

The Terror is out now on Warner Bros. And speaking of naked women crawling through slug guts, Pitchfork reports that Wayne Coyne has put together an “adult-themed” comic book called The Sun Is Sick, which will be available at San Diego’s Comic-Con and at the Lips’ website.
