The Foreign Exchange - "Call It Home"

When Phonte, a member of the North Carolina rap group Little Brother, started working with the Dutch producer Nicolay more than a decade ago, the resulting side project, the Foreign Exchange, wasn’t too far removed from the small-stakes everyman-rap of Phone’s main group. But with their sophomore album, 2008’s Leave It All Behind, things took a turn toward free-drifting empathetic electro-soul, and it was awesome. That version of the group has released a couple of albums now, and another one, called Love In Flying Colors, arrives next week. The first single is the soft and rippling “Call It Home,” and you can stream both it and its dazed non-album B-side “Pity” as one single track below.

Love In Flying Colors
is out 9/24 on the group’s own +FE Music imprint.
