A Spotify playlist made by Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk has been unearthed and it’s just nearly exactly what you’d expect it to be, if you weren’t anticipating a slew of weirdo yacht rock, disco, and show tunes ephemera you’ve never heard before. The collection features Random Access Memories contributors Pharrell (via N*E*R*D’s “Hypnotize U”), Panda Bear (via Animal Collective’s “My Girls” and his own “You Can Count On Me”), Giorgio Moroder (“Chase”), Nile Rodgers (via Chic’s “Good Times”), Paul Williams (“Bugsy Malone”), Julian Casablancas (via the Strokes’ “Tap Out”) — hardly even any deep cuts! It also includes Bon Iver’s foray into autotune “Woods,” clear RAM influencers Sister Sledge and Diana Ross, James Blake, MGMT, and the Jackson 5. Anyone else think that if Michael Jackson were still alive he’d make the perfect “Get Lucky” vocalist? Stream Bangalter’s playlist below.
UPDATE: Daft Punk have curated a second playlist for Spotify. Stream that one below.
