MGMT Play Fallon 9/11/13

The expectation-flummoxing psych-rock boffins in MGMT are about to release their self-titled third album, which, as our own Chris DeVille raves, is “not a complete shitshow.” And on last night’s episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the band was in classic trickster-jester form, playing the album cut “Plenty Of Girls In The Sea” while wearing scuba gear. They also employed a completely different form of wackiness, doing a helium-aided rendition of the single “Alien Days” as an online bonus. Watch both performances below.

MGMT is out 9/17 on Columbia.

  1. Wait, wait, wait…. BARCLAYS CENTER?!?

  2. “Under the sea, under the sea! Darling, it’s better down where it’s wetter, take it from MGMT!”

  3. Haha I love how ridiculous these guys are. Stoked that I can stream the new album on Rdio, I’ve been so impatient for this release I don’t think I could’ve made it until the 17th!
