Girls-Names-Next-Life

Belfast combo Girls Names keep shuffling through retro feels, from the jangly surf static of 2011 debut Dead To Me to the gloomy New Wave of this year’s The New Life. Such stylistic fluidity makes a Brian Eno cover seem like a good fit. To presage the release of their Bowie-ribbing The Next Life EP, the group’s first with drummer Gib Cassidy, Girls Names has released a cover of “Third Uncle,” a track from Eno’s 1974 album Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) that’s also been covered by Bauhaus and Built To Spill. Check it out below.

The Next Life is out Oct. 29 via Slumberland.
