UPDATE: Sky Ferreira has canceled all her remaining dates with Vampire Weekend. Via press release: “Sky performed on Monday Oct 1 in San Diego, after her initial diagnosis. Playing the concert led to a hemorrhage of her vocal chords that was just diagnosed this afternoon. This has been an on-going issue with Sky since her performance at this year’s SXSW festival.” She hopes to return to the stage for her record release show 10/27 in Los Angeles.
Sky Ferreira has taken to Facebook to alert fans that she will be taking a respite from her current stint as opener on Vampire Weekend’s tour:
Due an illness affecting my vocal chords, my doctor has prescribed several days of total vocal rest. Sadly, the timing will force me to miss this week’s shows with Vampire Weekend. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused for the band and fans. I’m doing my best to re-join the tour as soon I’m 100%.
She is still scheduled to perform with boyfriend Zachary Cole Smith at an Elliott Smith tribute show later this month.
Ferreira’s debut LP Night Time, My Time is out 10/29 via Capitol.
