The first thing we heard from ex-Best Coast/ex-Vivian Girls drummer Ali Koehler’s Upset was “Oxfords And Wingtips,” a song that hit with some pretty heavy and painful lyrics before softening the blow with guitar riffs that enveloped like a big, warm hug. “She’s Gone” pulls a similar trick, but with an even brisker and sunnier melody. Koehler’s lyrics are as angst-y and charming as the Daniel Clowes-reminiscent album art. Listen below.
She’s Gone is out 10/29 on Don Giovanni.
