Mike Mccready, Dierks Bentley, & The Roots On Fallon

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’s Pearl Jam Week has already brought us PJ covers from the grungy/rootsy team of Chris Cornell and the Avett Brothers and the Foxy/Grizzly pairing of Robin Pecknold and Dan Rossen. Wednesday, country rocker Dierks Bentley got in the act by covering the stadium-killer “Alive,” arguably Pearl Jam’s signature song, with assists from the Roots and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready himself. Watch it below.

Next up on Pearl Jam Week: The actual Pearl Jam will perform Thursday and Friday.

  1. This sounds like lifeless karaoke at best. The Roots are fine, but Dirks Bentley can’t make it work.
I know people were kind of down on Fleet Bear’s cover of Corduroy, but this is so much worse. Part of me feels like Dirks could have done a lot better with one of the the slower songs, but then the other, smarter part of me just goes nahhhhhh.

  2. This was a TERRIBLE cover.

  3. bentley’s no vedder hah
