Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP 2

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is coming soon, and we’ve already heard a bunch of songs from it: “Berzerk,” “Survival,” “Rap God,” the Rihanna collab “The Monster.” But the most obviously intriguing song from the tracklist is obviously the Kendrick Lamar collab “Love Game,” which unites the best rapper of 2013 with the best rapper of 1999. As it turns out, the song is both guys ranting splenetically about exes over a sample of Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders’ “Game Of Love.” It is an absolute goof-fest. Oh well. Listen to it below.

The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is out 11/5 on Shady/Aftermath/Interscope.

  1. Et tu, Kendrick?

  2. I like it.

  3. Not sure what I just listened to. I think I liked it, though.

  4. What is this hook?

  5. It’s becoming cool to hate on Eminem. Not awesome track, but not super terrible. There has been worse.

    • Hmm, IDK. Thats not how I see it. I think what we’re seeing at this point is that Eminem has really fallen off the horse artistically so to speak, he has become your average commercial rapper, but just a bit more annoying than most as of late.

It’s really just pathetic, he’s really lost touch and needs to be called out. The stuff he has released from this album so far has been garbage.

      • Hmm, IDK back at ya. He’s done worse, like some of the stuff from Encore and Recovery. I don’t feel like he’s doing anything spectacular anymore, but he’s still talented in certain regards. But I guess his early records really set the bar high. He’s too positive now and wants to “help people.” Bleh!

        • His descent into commercial shit started with Encore, continued into Recovery, and is still present in some of the MArshall Mathers LP. Would anything Eminem originally stood for (including the motifs from the original Marshall Mathers LP) suggest a career with Bruno Mars hooks and the radio pop fodder he’s been known for the past 5 years? Keep in mind, there is a track on this album featuring Fun, does any rap listener want to hear that collaboration?

The problem isn’t that he wants to “help people” (where are you getting this from?). Its that it seems at times that he’s engaging in hypocrisy for the sake of $$, also fuck ‘Berzerk’.

With that being said, I find this song intriguing in ways I can’t explain…

          • Marshall Mathers 2 LP*

            1. no one wants to hear the Fun collab…I hope.

            2. the orginal Em would say “fuck nah” to a radio friendly song with Bruno Mars, but the orginal Em has been gone for so long that to expect his return just because of this album title/artwork seems naive. This is the dude we’ve had for a decade now. Accepted as part of the last decade, these singles aren’t all that terrible (relatively speaking). I also find this weirdly intriguing…

            3. I got that he wants to “help people” from interview stuff, his commentary on songs like “Not Afraid,” his general vibe / acceptance of pop radio, etc. He wants to inspire confidence and happiness in others rather than relate inner angst (relatively). More power to him, even if his philosophy seems to lack depth.

  6. Why nobody talkin about the Kendrick verse. It’s silly (good).

  7. What the hell…is….this….
