MS MR

It’s now been more than two ears since we lost LCD Soundsystem. And it’s not like the world has been deprived of James Murphy’s music; he is, after all, a big part of why Reflektor sounds like it does. But it’s still easy to get a little bit misty about what we no longer have. If, for instance, you can hear New York synthpop duo MS MR’s take on the This Is Happening opener “Dance Yrself Clean” without nostalgia-chemicals flooding your brain, you are stronger than me. MS MR have turned the song into singer-songwriter piano-pop with tricky rhythm-section stuff going on, and it totally works. Listen below.

MS MR’s Secondhand Rapture is out now on Creep City.

  1. This was okay. It’s hard to listen to this song without the massive breakdown that happens halfway through. That’s really the best part of the song.

In terms of LCD Covers, I think Tokyo Police Club’s “All My Friends” is pretty fun and hits the mark.

  2. The Muppets did it better
