Against Me! - Transgender Dysphoria Blues

After a long wait the great Florida punk band Against Me! is finally set to release the new album Transgender Dysphoria Blues, their first album since their frontman became a woman, early next year. They’ve just shared the first of the album’s songs, the hard-charging and anthemic “FUCKMYLIFE666.” Bandleader Laura Jane Grace released a solo-acoustic version of the song on this year’s True Trans EP, but the song always deserved a pounding and fired-up full-band treatment, and now it has one. Listen below; it rules.

Transgender Dysphoria Blues is out 1/21 on the band’s own Total Treble label.

  1. awww yeaaahhhh my kinda song title. brings me back to my myspace scenester days.

  2. It’s pretty remarkable how despite he becoming a she, two band members exiting and self-releasing the effort, nothing has really changed about Against Me!, and that’s great.

True Trans EP came this past summer and not last year, by the way.

  3. she didn’t “become a she,” she’s always been a woman. she just came out and started to transition publicly.

  4. No issue with her transition, I just don’t like the way her voice sounds now. Doesn’t have the same feel as the old stuff. No hate, but I’ll just keep listening to The Eternal Cowboy..
