Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

This week we broke down Stephen Malkmus’ “Lariat,” the first single from Wig Out At Jagbags, which the Jicks previewed in Portland on Friday. We presented an annotated media guide to Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes and reported from Boston Hassle and Fun Fun Fun Fest. We watched David Lowery try to shut down Rap Genius and Lily Allen try to make a feminist statement and get called racist for it. We celebrated 20 years of Midnight Marauders and 10 years of The Black Album. We ranked of Montreal’s discography. And we learned Justin Timberlake is still just a rat in a cage. Your best and worst comments about these things — AND THE NEW DEATH GRIPS — are below.

the reason i want to shit on his face is because i feel like when i see him act he is always just one second away from looking at the camera and winking.

Ironically, it seems that Cracker is quite flexible with copyright law when it comes to images: https://www.facebook.com/CrackerSoul/photos_stream . I’m sure Bill Watterson approved that Calvin re-appropriation.

Posting a story about All Dogs on the same day a lot of people are talking about a more serious story (re: Yellow Dogs) is not a great idea. All Dogs aren’t quite very well know yet, and I’ve already read some confusion with people thinking All Dogs were Yellow Dogs and vice versa — just bad timing for this.

So, just because Pitchfork posted a track today as well (none of these are singles, mind you, they’re just random tracks selected off the EP you’ve deemed as the best just as I did two weekends ago with “Buddy”,) doesn’t mean you have to follow suit. Use better judgement, think for yourselves and more importantly, think with your heads instead of your content goals.

I still fail to understand how anyone out of middle school/high school finds this is any way good or interesting. There’s been a lot of harsh crap with no hint of melody to come before this that’s a lot more intense and impressive.
