Boat Club – “Memories (Saint Etienne Remix)” (Stereogum Premiere)

Boat Club, aka Magnus Wahlstrom and Andreas Christakis, is a balearic pop act from Gothenberg, the Swedish city that gave us a shitload of metal bands including Entombed, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, and Stereogum metal maestro Michael Nelson’s personal fave, At The Gates. But Gothenberg is also home to Little Dragon, the Tough Alliance, and Jens Lekman, and fans of those metropolitan pop auteurs might have a thing for Boat Club’s ultra-chill Caught The Breeze EP. It was originally released in 2007, but Cascine Records liked it so much that they reissued it this year. Saint Etienne are also fans, so they remixed “Memories,” and today we have that brisk reworking for your listening pleasure. It’s a little bit Moon Safari, a little bit Neon Golden, a little bit Since I Left You and all breezy Scandinavian soirée. Press play, drift away, call it a day.

Caught The Breeze is out now via Cascine.
