Death Vessel – “Ilsa Drown” (Feat. Jónsi)

Rhode Island folker Joel Thibodeau, who records as Death Vessel, has a new album called Island Intervals coming early next year. The first track he’s shared from it is called “Ilsa Drown,” and it features a guest vocal from Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi, whose clear and high and ethereal tone matches his own. While the song has a few impressionistic touches, it’s still a rare treat to hear Jónsi on something this rootsy and rustic; it turns out his voice is nearly as natural a fit for this stuff as it is for the sweeping-vista indie-prog he usually does. Listen to “Ilsa Drown” below.

Island Intervals is out 2/25 on Sub Pop.
