Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

This week we asked the tough questions. Is it ok to ask fans to dress up for your arena tour? Is it ok to take selfies? Is it okay to hunt animals? Is it ok to sometimes eat animals and still call yourself vegan? Have y’all heard of Nikola Tesla? What’s cooler than being cool? Answers to these questions and more below!

It’s annoying to me when an artist so BLATANTLY rips off another artist’s video. Kanye should be ashamed of himself.

In general, I have a lot of respect for people with conviction, but yeah, any line of thinking that prevents one from enjoying a pint of Ben & Jerry’s must be flawed.

Going around saying you’re better than anyone you see eating a cheeseburger doesn’t get places shutdown, it just makes you an asshole.

A vegan asked me once, while I was drinking something with milk in it, “Don’t you think it’s fucked up that you’re drinking something made for the baby of another species?” and I said “Not when I eat the entire family of that species.”

Eat whatever you want, because approaching food ethically is a privilege of western modern society. Put an aggressive vegan in a position of starvation and then they can see how ready they are to pontificate to everyone else.

Agreed. It’s just their way of trying to add a bit more to the experience. I believe that LCD Soundsystem did this same thing for their final show at MSG (which Arcade Fire were attendance for) and everyone was into it. Maybe it’s the start of some stupid new trend. In a year or two, Mumford & Sons will be requesting that all of their fans arrive in their seats dressed as idiots

This reminds me of my favorite vegan joke:

Q: How do you know if there’s a vegan at your party?

A: Don’t worry, they’ll let you know.

i think grimez is fucking awesome, i love what she stands for, i love her views, i love how uncompromising and creative she is… but i gotta respectfully disagree here; vegan means you dont consume animal products. period. if you consume animal products you’re not vegan. there is no nuance or gray area to it. If you eat grandmas beef stew, you’re not a vegan. I know many vegans that go to central america, meet indigenous folks and eat an animal they slaughter and it changes their perspectives, but they stop calling themselves vegan. they say, “im vegan mostly, but when im in central america i eat whatever hospitality is provided to not offend, because its different.”

the main crux of grimez point though, is that dogmatic vegans who yell at people all the time are less likely to convert someone to their cause, then say, making someone an awesome vegan (or gluten free) meal for a group of meat eaters. i used to get really annoyed with vegans that go around yelling at people, but lets be honest, its the vegans that go around yelling at people that got Huntington Life Sciences shut down, its the vegans that go around yelling at people that free animals from certain death and risk prison for it. Imagine being trapped in a factory your entire life, your body never touches the sun, your feet never touch the grass, you watch everyone around you die before you are killed. meat eaters need to come to terms with the fact that if they’re not out there hunting/fishing for their own shit they are propping up a genocidal machine, and vegans shouldn’t have to apologize for bringing that fact up. If we allow ve

if grimez wants to eat ice cream and cake, then let her eat cake! but if its got egg and milk in it she ain’t a vegan! maybe that makes her a vegetarian. but you can’t eat grandma’s beef stew if you’re a vegetarian.

Random Blood Orange story: Dev Hynes was once doing a photoshoot in the block of flats round the corner from mine [in London]. He was posing on a BMX on the steps of the tower block. I was on my way back from buying a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 off some guy in Stepney. Dev obviously knew what it was and smiled knowingly at me as I walked past. I recognised him from music videos. That’s the whole story.
