Arctic Monkeys

I haven’t conducted a scientific survey or anything, but it sure seems like Stereogum readers seem more annoyed at us for omitting Arctic Monkeys’ AM from our albums-of-the-year list than for omitting any other album. Those readers may have a point; AM is a tough, confident, generally badass piece of rock music. The band is about to release the album track “One For The Road” as a single, and they’ve got a good one as a B-side: The simmering, intense, oddly soulful “You’re So Dark.” Hear it below.

AM is out now on Domino, and the “One For The Road” 7″ single is out 12/10.

  1. Okay tune but those were some piss-poor lyrics

  2. Arctic Monkeys are the band with by far the most quality B-Sides, and also among the more generous bands in terms of sharing non-album tracks. They probably have another 2-3 albums worth of quality songs available.

  3. These guys’ B-sides are better than almost every other bands’ A-sides.

  4. Love AM. Between that, Like Clockwork, and Lightning Bolt, it’s more than taking care of my rawk listening this year. Gonna have to start digging into their b-sides, AT is one of the best lyricists I’ve ever heard.

  5. Great tune.
I’ve done a full write-up of the track on my blog online – Check it out

  6. Like every song since Alex Turner decided to write ‘Brick by Brick’…
