The Dead Weather - "Open Up (That's Enough)"

A couple of months ago, we learned that the Jack White/Alison Mosshart band the Dead Weather was getting ready for an imminent return by prepping a bunch of singles, all of them available through a Third Man subscription series that’ll take the band through 2013. At some point, they’ll also compile those songs, and a few others, into a new full-length album. And we heard a preview of “Open Up (That’s Enough),” the furious and unstable first single. Well, today, we get to hear all of “Open Up (That’s Enough),” and it goes hard. The track is a restraint-free ripper with seesawing circus riffs to burn, and you can hear it below.

  1. YES, that ripped!

  2. Gawd I love this band!!!

I need more, GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!!

  3. I have mixed feelings about the “Vault Subscription” thing — so you pay to join, then you also pay for all of the releases? It sounds like you get 1 record included by signing up, but that’s not a lot for the money.

Why not just keep running your awesome record label and make everything available to everyone?

I was OBSESSED with the White Stripes there for a few years, so I’m saying this as a huge fan of the man’s work. I love Dead Weather as well.

    • That’s not how it works. You get one record (often a double album), one 7″ and an additional item (DVD, t-shirt, book, poster) every three months for as long as you subscribe. The subscription is 20 USD a month plus shipping. 60 USD is not cheap for the package you’re getting, but if you take a look at eBay, you’ll see that they’re worth a lot more.

  4. Please, oh please, find a working link to this song. I need to hear this!!

  5. it got taken down While I was watching it earlier…

  6. Anyone have a mirror? Please!

  7. AHHHHHHHH. This is my best Christmas present. The Dead Weather are my favorite Jack White musical endeavor, they just crush me every time.
