Apple Holiday Ad 2013

Collisions between indie rock and the advertising world are commonplace now, and today we get Chan Marshall singing “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” in an ad for Apple. It’s really effective, too, if you’re willing to let a TV commercial move you. Watch below.

  1. Where did you get the Picture please ??

  2. Ah yes, manufactured sentimentality and emotion in the service of the richest corporation on the planet. Way to go, Chan. Your music is soooooooooooo meaningful…..

  3. For Christmas, be generous, send Chan some spare money.

  4. God, i hate christmas music.

  5. Could we please not have people singing songs that they don’t understand- “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is NOT supposed to sound pathetic- it’s supposed to be noble. God, can’t anybody today sing? Tell Cat Power that whining is not singing- of course, if real cats are doing the singing then I think they’ve done a fine job. This is what comes from removing musical education from the school systems.

    • This just in, songs can be interpreted differently. Thanks for having an open mind. I appreciate any take on this song, which happens to be my favorite tradtional xmas tune, which emphasizes the loneliness the lyrics can be read as implying.

  6. so over her. cat power? more like chan flounder.
