John Vanderslice – “Break Those Coins”

Polyvinyl Records is launching a 7-inch singles series featuring new material from the likes of Cloud Nothings, Mikal Cronin, John Vanderslice, Hospitality, and eight others recorded on a 4-track recorder. The label explains the 4-Track Singles Series like so:

The idea is simple… We sent this Tascam 4-track cassette recorder to the first artist, they recorded two songs to tape, then mailed the recorder to the next artist to do the same… We asked 12 artists we love to be involved with the project. Though the artists are spread out across the globe, they are all tied together because they recorded on the same device. When all was said and done, the 4-track had traveled over 20,000 miles!
