Parquet Courts on Fallon

More than a year ago, the New York-via-Texas DIY band Parquet Courts self-released Light Up Gold, their excellent debut album. It’s a long way from there to a network-television late-night spot, but Parquet Courts have made the journey. Last night, the band made their network-TV debut on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where they played “Stoned And Starving,” the single best song from Light Up Gold. They also played feedback solos and looked exactly like the rumpled dudes in front of you in the bathroom line at a Todd P show, so rest assured that they have not changed along the way. Watch the performance below.

Light Up Gold is out now on What’s Your Rupture?/Dull Tools.

  1. That was awesome

  2. what a great performance

  3. what a great performance

  4. I’m constantly dumbfounded by James Franco’s ability to totally transform from role-to-role whether he is playing himself, a slightly different version of himself (Franco was the bomb in Flyboys), or Riff Raff. Give the man a goddamn Oscar already!

  5. Do you think Jimmy will still have great bands like this when he switches over to the Tonight Show (which tends to be a little more conservative)?

    • Letterman still does pretty good with bands in the same time slot. God, Leno’s show is horrible when it comes to music.

  6. I know this perf is good, but their KEXP live one from Austin is definitive- I can’t stop listening to it and think it is perfect.

  7. Best album of 2012 or 2013 whichever you want to count it in.
