New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is one of the more sprawling music festivals around. Like Coachella and Austin City Limits, it spans two weekends, but unlike those fests, the lineup doesn’t just repeat itself — all seven days of festivities feature a unique lineup. That means the event is in the same league as Milwaukee’s gargantuan Summerfest in terms of sheer musical girth. It also means that, despite a lineup that leans toward the family-friendly and/or Grammy-friendly, there are usually some Stereogum favorites included. So it goes with this year’s lineup, taking to downtown New Orleans on 4/25-27 and 5/1-4: Headliners include Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Eric Clapton, Phish, and Christina Aguilera, but there’s also Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Public Enemy, and Charlie Wilson. As The Times-Picayune explains:

The vast majority of the hundreds of acts on the schedule are native to, or based in, south Louisiana. But it is the “visiting” acts, the marquee names that inevitably headline the festival’s main Acura, Congo Square and Gentilly stages that generate the most discussion. In keeping with the blueprint of recent Jazz Fests, the 2014 headliners are a mix of contemporary and veteran rock, pop and R&B stars.
