Austra - "Hurt Me Now" video

Gauzy Tornoto synthpoppers Austra have a history of making deeply strange and absorbing music videos, and their latest is for “Hurt Me Now,” one of the tracks from last year’s very good Olympia album. In director M. Blash’s video, the band plays in the middle of the day in a room full of a very motley assortment of dancers, one of whom, I’m pretty sure, is supposed to be Medusa. There are some great faces in this video, and you can watch it below.

  1. To be Tornoto be, that’s called spell check

  2. “Tornoto”? Come on now, don’t make me sic Rob Ford on you…

  3. I love Austra’s music (I always go see them live when in the Bay Area), but I think their videos leave a lot to be desired. They could take some cues from the darker tones on videos by The Soft Moon and Forest Sword. In terms of editing and especially camera framing, this video could be a lot better IMHO.

  4. Did this blow anyone else’s mind? Because it blew my mind.

  5. great song, shit video
