Keep Shelly In Athens - "Old Time Glory"

Over the weekend, Sarah P, singer for the Greek dream-pop duo Keep Shelly In Athens, announced on Twitter that she was leaving the group. As something of a parting gift, the group released one final song with Sarah, and it really underlines what a shame it is that she’s leaving. The track is a crisp, hooky synthpop jam with more than a little M83 in its DNA, and there’s a decent chance that it’s the best song that Keep Shelly In Athens have ever recorded. Download it below.

According to the song’s Soundcloud description, Keep Shelly In Athens will keep on with a new singer and with guest vocalists, and there will be a new album out later this year.

  1. This sounds so much like “Not In Love” by Crystal Castles…at least the synth line. But it’s still pretty good.

  2. although i’m sure there’s a more popular equivalent that I don’t know of, this actually sounds to me more like something by Parallels (which had the same dummer as CC for awhile.)

Definitely one of their more vibrant songs, but I think there’s a lot more to be said for their dreamier paced songs.
