Big Boi CPU 2

Even in the midst of headlining 40+ music festivals with the reunited OutKast, Big Boi and Andre 3000 both have new solo albums coming this year according to Revolt TV. And in the lead-up to Big Boi’s follow-up to 2012′s Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors, he’s releasing a series of mashups repurposing some of his old solo and OutKast verses. The most recent is Organized Noize producer Ray Murray’s “CPU 2.0,” which crossbreeds Big Boi’s Phantogram collab “CPU” with Sade’s “Nothing Can Come Between Us.” The result is way funkier and more old-fashioned than the sleek and digital original. Download via Hypetrak below, where you can also find the first mashup (a blend of “Thom Pettie” with Yarbrough & Peoples’ “Don’t Waste Your Time”) plus footage of Big Boi’s interview confirming the solo album.

Big Boi’s third LP is due out this year via Purple Ribbon/Def Jam.
