Watch Angel Olsen Play Four New Songs Acoustic For NPR

What we’ve heard so far from Angel Olsen’s upcoming sophomore effort shows that she’s traded in the hushed folk songs of her 2012 debut for a more ’90s punk sound. The singer-songwriter stopped by NPR’s Tiny Music Desk to perform four new songs off of Burn Your Fire For No Witness that show off her country twang and sound more like the Olsen we’ve heard before. The performance is extremely charming and you can watch it below. The tunes are “Unfucktheworld,” “Iota,” “Enemy,” and “White Fire.”

Burn Your Fire For No Witness is out on 2/18 via Jagjaguwar.

  1. As far as “acoustic” performances go, this is abysmal: she’s using an electric guitar. All kidding aside, this is fantastic, as is everything I’ve heard from the new album.

    • Ha, you’re right — fixed. I think I was in a daze when I gave James the headline, on account of getting 3 hours of sleep following Grammys coverage. We did like 50 posts today, though, which has to be a record. News!

  2. I’ve got so much love for this woman.

  3. the new album is just sublime

  4. im glad she ditched the acoustic and went electric on the new album
