Watch Intimate Sessions From FKA Twigs & Chairlift At Young Turks’ New Year’s Event In Mexico

This past New Years Eve, the British label Young Turks found a great way to celebrate the occasion: A massive beachside show in Tulum, Mexico that featured most of the label’s roster and a few non-roster artists who fit nicely into the label’s whole stargazing future-pop aesthetic. They also brought Yours Truly down to film some beautiful footage of the show and to film some intimate live songs from artists on the bill. Hopefully soon we’ll get videos from people like the xx and Grimes, but the videos we have now are already pretty great. Chairlift leader Caroline Polachek showed off her opera training, singing a Handel aria a cappella while standing knee-deep in a pond, while FKA twigs sang the beautiful EP2 track “Hide” in the ruins of a Mayan village. Watch those two performances, as well as a short documentary about the festival, below.

I may have to change the rules of the 5 Best Videos Of The Week so that I can fit these things on there; they’re awesome.
