Freddie Gibbs & Madlib

The head-busting Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs and the brain-expanding California producer Madlib have already teamed up for a series of great songs (“Thuggin’,” “Shame,” “City,” “Deeper, “Harold’s“), and their collaborative album Piñata is scheduled to arrive in a couple of months. BBC radio just debuted “Robes,” which has Gibbs alongside Odd Future members Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis, all of them laconically going in over a cascading jazz-haze of a Madlib track. Hear a kinda-muffled radio rip below.

Piñata is out 3/18 on Madlib’s Madlib Invazion label.

  1. They’ve done a good job building excitement for this album, at least for me. Every time I almost forget about it, something new and great pops up.
