Last month, the young but storied Brooklyn DIY venue 285 Kent closed its doors, provoking a level of sentimentality not often seen when the inevitable happens and a warehouse can no longer hold shows. And now the Florida rapper Kitty has joined the legions paying tribute to the late venue. She’s just shared a fond rap remembrance called “285,” writing that it’s “dedicated 2 the memory of my late second home, 285 kent and all of the crazy things that kept us coming back.” It’s a warm neon dance-rap song, and you can hear it below.

  1. This is the first thing I’ve heard from Kitty since OK Cupid (which I really enjoyed), and it sounds like she’s getting better and better.

Side note – I want to practice kissing with her.

  2. I didn’t really like OK Cupid beyond its novelty value when it came out but I really like where Kitty is going and I’m really excited about her album dropping. This and Second Life are insanely good songs
