Julian Casablancas has a busy year ahead of him: a solo album (probably) and two sets at Governor’s Ball, one a solo set and another with the Strokes. And today, a short documentary about Julian’s stepfather, artist Samuel Adoquei, was released online. The film is called The Unseen Beauty, it’s directed by Gabriel de Urioste, and it features a new Julian song (actually credited to Julian and Simon Taufique). It’s basically incidental music over which Adoquei speaks — Julian is just noodling on vocals over a keyboard line — but it’s actually pretty damn beautiful. I wouldn’t mind one bit if this turned up on the guy’s next solo record. You can watch the whole film below — it’s a quiet, touching movie — or you can just scroll ahead to 7:00 to hear the song.
