Real Estate - Atlas

New Jersey’s Real Estate recorded Atlas, their third album, at Wilco’s studio in Chicago, and it’s possible to see them easing into the same sort of perma-touring, base-satisfying existence that Wilco enjoys, especially on the strength of an album like Atlas. Like Real Estate’s last two albums, Atlas uses the band’s twinkling, satisfying guitars to build the sort of quiet, expansive road-trip epics that you never quite get tired of hearing. We’ve already posted the early tracks “Talking Backwards” and “Crime,” and now the whole album is streaming at iTunes.

Atlas is out 3/4 on Domino.

  1. Essentially a rewrite of ‘Days’ and I’m totally fine with that.

  2. Poised to be one of my favorites of 2014, even if it’s just more of the same ol’ Real Estate. They’ve got me dreaming of warmer days and an ocean breeze.

  3. No iTunes Radio in Canada. Don’t tell me how it ends.

  4. “Primitive” is incredible, so contemplative and breezy and captivating.

    • Yeah “Primitive” is a definite standout for me. The whole album is more laid back than Days, which is cool. I still can’t get some of those melodies out of my head

  5. Primitive Is a Instant Classic

  6. Primitive and Past Lives and Navigator are perfect.

The album is another wonderful treat.

I hope they never listen to people who tell them to change their sound.
