Johnny Cash

Later this month the world will get to hear Out Among The Stars a lost album of Johnny Cash’s from the ’80s. We’ve already heard a couple of songs off it, including the Waylon Jennings duet “I’m Movin’ On” and the lead single “She Used To Love Me A Lot.” The latter showed Cash experimenting with newer production techniques, but the B-side to the 7″ single is a new remix by Elvis Costello that puts Cash’s voice in an extremely modern setting by today’s standards. Costello wrote a couple of songs specifically for Cash (“Hidden Shame” and “Complicated Shadows,” though the country legend didn’t record the latter) so it’s a fitting pairing. Listen below.

The 7″ single is out 3/11, Out Among The Stars is out 3/25 via Columbia/Legacy.
