Soundgarden & NIN

Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden celebrate two big anniversaries today as both The Downward Spiral and Superunknown turn 20 years old (which resulted in some animosity between the two bands back in the day). Now Antiquiet has compiled evidence that points to the bands going on a co-headlining tour this summer. First Live Nation leaked a listing for an August show in Dallas with both NIN and Soundgarden. Then fans found an auction that offered a Chris Cornell meet-and-greet at a NIN/Soundgarden show in LA. Yesterday, both bands seemingly teased the news with similar promotional Instagram videos. Thanks to the diligent work by fan forum Echoing The Sound in identifying the series of venues flashed in the Soundgarden clip, we have a tentative list of places the tour will be hitting this year. Check those out along with the videos below.

  1. Late last year, Soundgarden came through my area and they played a decrepit mid-sized general admission venue. It took a few months to sell out. I’m sure this will sell well seeing that summer package tours are made for 30 and 40 year olds who want go to a concert because they want to get drunk and hear the hits from when they were in high school, but judging by Soundgarden’s last album, I’d probably only stick around for half their set if they took turns with NIN on who would close out the night.

I would have definitely preferred it if NIN and QOTSA brought that Aussie tour they did together Stateside instead. Somehow, the Linkin Park, Academy Award-winner Jared Leto and AFI package tour feels more of a complete bang for the buck with Soundgarden being thrown into the equation here.

    • You didnt like KIng Animal? I thought the first half of the record was stellar.

    • I’m in my late 30′s and don’t want to hear the hits from high school and/or get drunk. I want to watch two great bands put on an amazing show and hear songs from their entire catalog, not just the radio hits.

  2. thats a bizarre combination. NIN are fantastic live but i have zero interest in seeing soundgarden. when i saw them (nine inch nails) last time they had deerhunter open for them, which odd as it sounds, was absolutely perfect.

  3. Or QOTSA could, you know, come to major cities in general instead of skipping ones like D.C. QOTSA hates DC’s money.

  4. Everclear, Spacehog, AND Eve 6 all on the same stage?! Glory days are back again!

  5. Soundgarden were an incredible band. Incredibly under-rated, don’t get the credit they deserve. I’m jealous that I won’t get to go to this tour. Nine Inch Nails are one of my favourite bands of all time, and Soundgarden are superb live.

  6. This is a dream come true for me as both NIN and SG are my two absolute favorite bands. NIN puts on an amazing show and it’s great to see NIN and SG laid their beef to rest. This is probably gonna be the highlight of my concert life. You can’t get anymore sexier than Trent and Chris together.

  7. I’m really excited–Soundgarden and NIN are two of my favorite bands–should be a great tour.
