When I spoke with Charli XCX in October, she was eyeing a spring release for her follow-up to last year’s debut True Romance. Sounds like that’s probably not going to happen, but given the latest news about the project, it’s intriguing enough to wait around for. Charli told Complex she’s done sessions with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij. Considering she’s also been in the studio with Patrik Berger (True Romance’s “You’re The One,” Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own”), this album is shaping up to be one of 2014’s most adventurous. It’s due sometime this year via Asylum/Atlantic.
