Zep covers

Although most teenagers start with Led Zeppelin IV (aka “the one with ’Stairway’”), Led Zeppelin’s first three albums — appropriately titled Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, and Led Zeppelin III — have long been essential documents for anyone with a budding interest in rock ’n’ roll. They also hold up better than almost anything else you might have been bumping at age 14. As of this June, exuberant adolescents will have even more music to dig into when they discover those records and Zeppelin’s many, many fans have some new music to satiate their Zep-hunger. The band is reissuing all three of them with bonus material, the first wave of a campaign that will give all nine Zeppelin studio albums expanded reissues. Says Jimmy Page, who handled the remastering himself, “The material on the companion discs presents a portal to the time of the recording of Led Zeppelin. It is a selection of work in progress with rough mixes, backing tracks, alternate versions, and new material recorded at the time.” Here’s what’s going on the bonus discs, via Rolling Stone:
