Let’s all close our eyes, take a deep breath, and savor the mental image of Kanye West in an anger management class. Because it’s happening. Last year, West was charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft when he punched a photographer at LAX, wrestled him down, and tried to grab his camera. The photographer, Daniel Ramos, wanted to have West sent to prison for the attack. According to CNN, Ramos says, “I was only doing my job, and he broke the law. I believe that if I did what he did to me, I would have been put behind bars.” But that’s not happening. Instead, West’s lawyer entered a no contest plea yesterday, and judge Alan Rubin sentenced him to two years of probation. He’ll have to attend 24 anger management classes, complete 250 hours of community service, and pay Ramos restitution, which honestly was probably what Ramos was after the whole time. If you’ve ever been around paparazzi, you’re probably surprised that this sort of thing doesn’t happen more often; their entire job is pretty much constant harassment.
