Best Coast binaural session

Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino doesn’t really strike me as the audiophile type, and yet she recently recorded a live-in-studio session for the speaker manufacturer Jawbone, showing off its binaural recording technique. Binaural recordings use two microphones to capture a sort of 3D sound, and though I can’t quite hear the difference, maybe you can. Even if you can’t hear it, she does a strong rendition of “Baby, I’m Crying,” a ballad from the Fade Away EP that she released last year. Watch it below.

The self-released Fade Away is out now.

  1. “Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino doesn’t really strike me as the audiophile type”, why not?

    • Well, at the beginning she does say something to the effect of “If someone tells me it’s mono I can hear it but I would never know right off the bat”

  2. Bethany might not be the audiophile type, but Snacks can be finicky.

  3. Bethany Cosentino sounds great on PONO!
