Have you ever wondered what famous album covers might look like from a different perspective? A user on Flickr by the name of Harvezt has worked to answer that question with a new series called The Dark Side Of The Cover. It goes all over the place from the Beatles to Nirvana to Kraftwerk to Cannibal Corpse. Some are pretty much what you’d expect (Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures for example), others are pretty funny like Springsteen’s Born In The USA, but then there are ones like King Crimson’s first album and Led Zeppelin’s IV that are just plain weird. Check out some choice picks in the gallery above and sift through the entire thing over on Flickr.

  1. oh great, now slideshows have terrible intrusive ads.

  2. This is cool.

  3. baby taint

  4. I feel like some of these are really cool (Bowie, Nirvana, King Crimson), and some of them are super hokey/boring (Springsteen and Pink Floyd). Either way, a really really cool concept, and I would love to see some more of these

  5. The Bowie cover was pretty brilliant and the Beatles cover really didn’t make much sense to me.

I know I am x amount of years late, but can anyone tell me why the cover for This Is It changed?

    • Not sure if you’re talking about why it’s the lady’s hind end, or if you mean why the alternative album cover is on her backside.. Either way, the story behind it is the original album cover, the nude bottom, was used in Europe, but the band decided to switch over to the other design for the American market. That’s the design with subatomic particle tracks.
