The Beyoncé producer BOOTS, aka Jordy Asher, has been releasing a bunch of promising solo material lately, and today he leaked a couple more examples of his dark-hued, futuristic R&B. “My Heart Is A Stone Today (Unharmed)” is the most upbeat, poppy single he’s unveiled so far, but it’s still far from a ray of sunshine, all minor chords and creeping vibes until it morphs into an acoustic ballad that betrays his indie rock past. “Sheep/Lookin’ Muthafucka (Lude II)” starts out as a sparse vocal showcase marked by digital flourishes before turning up and expanding into some questionable rapping over discordant clatter.
