Yusuf Islam on Fallon

Tomorrow night, Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, will go into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. And last night, as part of The Tonight Show’s week-long project of hosting as much of this year’s Hall Of Fame incoming class as possible, Jimmy Fallon booked Islam as a musical guest. On the show proper, the Roots backed Islam as he played a medley of “The First Cut Is The Deepest” and “Wild World.” And as an online bonus, he also did a solo-acoustic rendition of “The Wind.” Watch both performances below.

Tonight, Fallon has Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Stevie Nicks.

  1. Living legend.

  2. Awesome!

  3. I wonder why Jimmy Fallon never said his last name? He kept introducing him as “Yusuf” rather than “Yusuf Islam.” I’ve never heard him intro Justin Timberlake as Only “Justin.” Interesting.
