Lana Del Rey – “West Coast (Dan Auerbach Mix)”

A week ago, a few hours after debuting it at Coachella, Lana Del Rey released “West Coast,” the exquisite lead single from her upcoming sophomore release Ultraviolence. Now a remix credited to Ultraviolence producer Dan Auerbach has surfaced with the intention of making “West Coast” more palatable to radio programmers. The only discernible difference is that Del Rey’s vocals are higher in the mix, which slightly undercuts the original’s hazy mystique, though I’d still have called it one of last week’s best songs either way. Ultraviolence is coming soon via Interscope, and a “West Coast” video directed by Vincent Haycock is due any day now. No word whether this version or the original will be used for that.
