Are You Sleeping

Harry Nilsson is one of those musicians whose influence far outstrips his fame. His music feels like a sacred trust among the initiated, which is why you’re just as likely to hear famous musicians covering his songs as to stumble upon one of his original recordings. The latest Nilsson tribute comes from Islands’ Nick Diamonds and Idiot Glee’s James Friley, who teamed up on a rendition of “Are You Sleeping?” from the 1971 animated film The Point. These two indie-pop auteurs have their own well-developed personal styles, but they treat this one with extreme reverence because the original is just that good. Listen below.
