Superjam Skrillex

Bonnaroo has announced the lineups for a trio of Superjams at this year’s festival. The annual improv sessions have previously featured D’Angelo’s return to the public eye and the one-time-only collision of John Oates, R. Kelly, and Billy Idol, and at least one of this year’s two lineups seems primed to offer something memorable. That’d be the Skrillex And Friends edition, which brings together such disparate figures as Big Gigantic, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Robby Krieger of the Doors, Zedd, Mickey Hart, Janelle Monaé, Warpaint, Chance The Rapper, Thundercat, and more. Good luck imagining what that jumble might sound like.

As for the other two Superjams: The one led by star blues guitarist Derek Trucks brings together Chaka Khan, Taj Mahal, Eric Krasno, James Gadson, David Hidalgo, and Adam Deitch plus special guests Andrew Bird, Susan Tedeschi, Ben Folds, and more. So that’s kind of weird too, but in a much less exciting way. Lastly, actor Ed Helms, known for busting out the old banjo on The Office, will host the Bluegrass Situation Superjam featuring the Lonesome Trio, Dierks Bentley, Sarah Jarosz, Lake Street Dive, the Black Lillies, Shovels & Rope, the Lone Bellow, Robert Ellis, Della Mae, Bryan Sutton, and Dave Johnston of Yonder Mountain String Band. How’s that for a lineup, Tuna?
