UPDATE: La Lana just released the Ultraviolence cover art. That’s it above. ^^^

In just over a month, Lana Del Rey will hit the world in the head with Ultraviolence, her sophomore album, and she’s done just as masterful a job building mysterious hype for it as she once did with Born To Die, her debut. The single “West Coast” is still the only LP track we’ve heard, but today, she posted the album’s tracklist on Facebook. (We’ve also heard the bonus track “Black Beauty,” though we don’t know if the version we’ve heard is the one on the album.) Plenty of the song titles feel like song titles you’d come up with if you were making fun of Lana Del Rey (“Sad Girl,” “Pretty When You Cry,” “Fucked My Way Up To The Top”), and there’s a bonus track like “Guns And Roses,” which will hopefully be all about the moment when it looked like she was dating Axl Rose. Check out the tracklist below.

01 “Cruel World”
02 “Ultraviolence”
03 “Shades Of Cool”
04 “Brooklyn Baby”
05 “West Coast”
06 “Sad Girl”
07 “Pretty When You Cry”
08 “Money Power Glory”
09 “Fucked My Way Up To The Top”
10 “Old Money”
11 “The Other Woman”
12 “Black Beauty” *
13 “Guns And Roses” *
14 “Florida Kilos” *

* Bonus track

Ultraviolence is out 6/13 on Interscope.

  1. “Cruel,” “Cool,” “Brooklyn,” “Sad,” “Pretty,” “Power,” “Fucked,” “Money,” “Beauty,” “Kilos”

Yep, I think she managed to hit all possible Tumblr-worthy buzz words in one tracklist.

    • Funny, I’ve always had a dislike for Lana Del Ray based solely off of the fact that her fans I’ve met have been unbearable tumblr girl types. The kind you meet at a party that will be lecturing you on some social issue they saw a blog post on one minute, doing shots and making out with a guy ten minutes later, and then spend the rest of the night crying in the bathroom. I actually like some of her music though, it’s just a shame that I associate her with that. Although that’s obviously the crowd that she sells her made up persona to, so it makes sense.

    • She’s lacking in a song called “Dr. Who GIF”

  2. “Plenty of the song titles feel like song titles you’d come up with if you were making fun of Lana Del Rey ” i LOLed so hard at this.

if anything, reading the song titles makes me dont wanna check out these songs at all LOL

  3. LDR probably has the most predictable song titles in music.

  4. i know a lot of people throw shade her way but i can dig it= west coast was dope.

  8. I’m genuinely excited. I’ve had a very personal relationship with “Born To Die” and these song titles (along with hearing West Coast) lead me to believe that’s going to continue.

    • “Fucked My Way Up To The Top”? You sly fox!

      • Kind of. lol I thought Video Games was a good enough song, and I do like the bad girls, it’s true (that last bit relates to the song’s lyrics, for those who are not aware). About eight months ago I met a girl – one that I care about quite a bit now – who was really into the entire album. Our relationship has been at least partly based around time spent listening to that album, doing various “things”. A lot of LDR’s lyrics are dirt nasty, and if listened to in the appropriate inebriated and or aroused state, are really quite enjoyable. I’ve never claimed they were groundbreaking, or that she should win some kind of songwriting award. But for me, they work, particularly on the very personal level mentioned above. LDR will always remind me of the time spent with this woman, and I’m cool with that.

  9. so excited. damn the haters. damn the critics. west coast was great.
she’s like a character from a david lynch movie in the flesh.
    her music is genuinely weird.

  10. I actually wonder if she named her songs before recording them…because that would be so LDR of her.

    • Not to be pedantic or anything, but maybe you mean before writing them, yes? Because I think its safe to say that most songs, at least a majority of them, are named before they’re recorded. Also, it’s not all that uncommon for a song title, or an idea for one, to be the thing that pushes a song into existence.

  11. The title of her album really turns me off, not that I was really looking forward to her album or anything, but seeing the word ultraviolence makes me cringe. I hate to accuse people of being “hipsters” and the like but naming your album “ultraviolence” is a bit too gimmicky. Yes we’ve seen A Clockwork Orange.

  12. I love her. West Coast is one of the best songs so far this year. I can’t wait to hear the album

  13. Am I the only one who misread “Fucked My Way Up to the Top” as “Fucked Up My Way to the Top” originally? Clearly the unfathomable number of “OMG LDR failed in her quest for fame!!!!1” thinkpieces I’ve read since 2011 is fucking with my brain…

In any case, I’m excited to hear these. “West Coast” was better than I ever even knew.

  14. Which one is the more badass album? Ultraviolence or To Be Kind?
(hint: don’t judge the album on its title).

  15. I can’t wait to listen to the album. This will be personal, she will take head on the haters, I can feel it. Not that I personally need it, but is nice to hear things like D.Auerbach said recently about her that she’s “extremely talented”. She’s not just talented but she’s a genuinely good person who didn’t deserved the malice thrown at her in the past couple of years.

  16. We are all neo tron.

  17. She really rubs some people the wrong way, fine. What I don’t get is those who claim she’s unoriginal/manufactured. Name one other artist that’s like her today. Her persona and lyrical perspective are wholly her own. Those wishing she would go away, you know she would just be replaced by more Rihanna/Beyonce clones, right? Is that what you want? I don’t love everything she does, but I’m glad there’s an interesting artist like her inhabiting the mainstream amongst all the other truly manufactured drivel.

  18. I like her but that cover is shit.

  19. LEAVE LANA ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. I don’t recall an artist I hate myself for loving quite as much as this one.

    She’s 100% Awfderful
