The Fresh & Onlys – “Who Let the Devil”

By Miles Bowe / May 13, 2014 - 11:16 am

After a break in 2013 so two members could work on solo albums, San Francisco rockers the Fresh & Onlys have come back this year with a string of singles that remind you how much they’ve been missed. Both “Bells Of Paonia” and “Animal Of One” were cast in a warm, pleasant fuzz, but the newest sounds a bit more anxious. “Who Let The Devil” comes in with a muscular drum beat that stays throughout the song, providing an urgency as Tim Cohen asks, “Who let the devil walk through my door?” before moving onto a series of observations that hint at demonic possession and treat its absence like an unfortunate breakup. It adds up to a song as creepy as it is pleasant. Listen to it below.

House Of Spirits is out 6/10 via Mexican Summer.
