Dave Grohl sat down with Billboard to talk details about the ambitious plan for the Foo Fighters’ next album and the HBO documentary series that will go along with it. “As we were coming down from the success of the last record, I thought, ‘Now we have license to get weird.’ If we wanted, we could make some crazy, bleak Radiohead record and freak everyone out,” he said. “Then I thought, ‘F- that.’ […] The music is a progression or an evolution, for sure, but it’s a Foo Fighters record.” He also dropped some more names of collaborators: in addition to the previously announced Joe Walsh and New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the group was also joined by Gary Clark Jr. in Austin and Zac Brown in Nashville. The as-of-yet untitled eighth album is reportedly due out in November on Roswell/RCA.
