Rush Midnight is the former Twin Shadow bassist Russ Manning, and on his own, he makes bubbly, evocative, chiffon-smooth dance-pop. He is not, in other words, the first person you’d expect to get a Busta Rhymes remix. But right now, that’s exactly what he has. The version of Bussa Buss who shoes up on the remix to the Rush Midnight track “Say I’m Someone” isn’t the raow-raowing dungeon dragon of old. Instead, a mixed-down Busta babbles happily along with the tracks smooth, placid groove. It’s a weird combination, but it works; check it out below.
