One of the most anticipated sets at Arts & Crafts Records’ second annual Field Trip Festival this past weekend was the reunion of Constantines. The Ontario rockers’ patented Springsteen-meets-Fugazi steez resulted in an abundance of classic songs, none of which has lingered in the collective consciousness quite like “Young Lions” from 2003’s Shine A Light — you might recall that Arcade Fire covered it in Toronto this year. Before the Field Trip festivities got underway, the band played a more intimate gig Friday in their hometown of Guelph, and YouTube user Matt Williams captured video. Watch the band uncoil “Young Lions” below.
Sub Pop is reissuing Shine A Light tomorrow, and the Constantines have a few more reunion dates coming up in August:
8/3 Sackville, NB @ SappyFest
8/22 Peterborough, ON @ Peterborough Folk Festival
8/23 Ottawa, ON @ Arboretum Festival
