The Libertines Announce Reunion Tour, Tease New Album

The Libertines

After seven chaotic years together and a grand total of two albums, pill-popping Brit-rock bashers the Libertines broke up in 2004. They played some reunion shows in 2010, and earlier this year, they teased another big one at London’s Hyde Park, with co-leader Pete Doherty saying that they’d be getting back together just for the money but that this would be entirely in keeping with the original spirit of the band. Well, they must’ve gotten some good offers. The Hyde Park show is happening, and they’ve also announced that they’ll be touring all over Western Europe, playing some big festivals. Doherty has also said that they could well finish up a new album. Check out the dates and read what he has to say below.

And here’s what Doherty says about a new album:

A new record is exactly what we’re talking about, that’s the dream, really. Finish off all those ideas that we never completed back in the day, all those songs we never played for anyone else that have been floating around in the ether. We’re also wanting to try out a few new ideas so it wouldn’t just be old stuff. I don’t want to tempt fate but we both have the desire, so I think it will happen. It’s important to be honest and there’s still a lot we have to say. We’re still relevant.
